Digital Transformation for a Global Leader in Elevator and Escalator Compliance
A global leader in vertical transportation consulting and inspection, partnered with Reshape Digital to modernize and scale its digital infrastructure. As the company expanded through acquisitions, its existing inspection platform, while functional, lacked the flexibility, performance, and architectural maturity required to support a growing, multi-entity organization.

The Challenge
At the time of our partnership, the client had an internal web platform in place to manage elevator and escalator inspections. However, it was not built with enterprise scalability in mind. The platform struggled to accommodate the growing complexity brought on by mergers and state-by-state regulatory differences. As new companies joined the organization, the system lacked the flexibility to support their distinct workflows.
Data inconsistencies, limited performance, and a lack of architectural structure also made it difficult to build and deploy new features. Compliance requirements varied across state lines, Salesforce integrations were fragile, and field workers faced friction with a mobile app that was difficult to update and maintain.
Our Solution
We began with an in-depth discovery process, embedding our business analysts alongside client's internal teams to fully understand the inspection lifecycle, stakeholder roles, and regional compliance nuances. This close collaboration enabled the team to transition the entire project into an agile delivery model, bringing structure to the roadmap, increasing velocity, and giving the client’s teams greater visibility and control over development.
“Compliance across multiple states, streamlined and centralized.”
On the technical side, we focused first on restructuring the application’s backend and database to support long-term scalability. By modularizing the system and improving the underlying data layer, we laid the groundwork for onboarding more portfolio companies and aligning their unique workflows and requirements within a single unified platform.
“Built for today’s inspections. Scalable for tomorrow’s growth.”
One of the biggest improvements came in the field. We designed and built a Progressive Web App (PWA) from scratch, tailored to the real-world needs of client’s inspection teams. The app runs on any device, enabling inspectors to manage site visits, capture findings, upload images, and submit reports without depending on unreliable mobile tools or paper backups.
To unify the user experience across the organization, we integrated a new Single Sign-On (SSO) system that ties together all client applications under a single secure authentication layer. At the same time, we enhanced the Salesforce integration to improve data flow from inspections into invoicing, ensuring tighter operational alignment between teams and reducing duplication and manual entry.
Tech Stack
The platform is built with a modern .NET backend using Entity Framework to ensure stability, extensibility, and clean data handling. Both the main web interface and the custom Progressive Web App (PWA) for field inspectors are developed in React, delivering a consistent, responsive experience across devices, with full offline capabilities in the field. Hosted on Microsoft Azure, the infrastructure supports reliable performance and streamlined deployments. The MS SQL database was optimized for scalability and improved data relationships across business units. Salesforce integration keeps inspection and invoicing data tightly connected, while a custom RPA pulls information from the Department of Buildings, filling the gap where direct APIs are unavailable.
Impact & Results
- Re-architected the inspection platform to support future scalability, cleaner development, and easier onboarding of more portfolio companies.
- Launched a custom React-based Progressive Web App that enabled inspectors to work efficiently in the field, with faster task completion.
- Improved Salesforce integration, automating data flow between inspection, reporting, and invoicing processes, reducing errors and manual effort.
- Enhanced compliance management across multiple states with flexible rule sets and data models that accommodate varying regulations.
- Introduced SSO across applications, improving security and simplifying access for users across teams and business units.
- Transitioned to agile delivery, increasing team alignment, accelerating release cycles, and improving responsiveness to changing business needs.
What’s Next
Our ongoing partnership focuses on enhancing and expanding the platform to support long-term growth. Current efforts include separating core concerns between inspection management and Salesforce-based billing workflows, improving system clarity, flexibility, and maintainability. We're also developing new feature sets to further streamline operations, enhance user experience, and support the evolving needs of newly integrated business units. As the platform continues to scale, these improvements are helping position our client as the world’s leading provider of elevator and escalator consulting and compliance services, powered by digital tools that match the depth of their industry expertise.
